The report highlights ClearSpace’s joint leadership, alongside Astroscale and D-Orbit, in delivering the first stage of this innovative regulatory tool designed to advance UK space policy and practice.

ClearSpace has successfully completed Phase 2 of the CLEAR mission, marking a key milestone in the UK’s first Active Debris Removal (ADR) mission. This phase has de-risked key technologies and reinforced the UK’s position as a leader in space sustainability and in-orbit servicing.

After successfully completing the preliminary design phase of the CLEAR mission, ClearSpace has been awarded a new contract by the UK Space Agency to further develop the mission.

For the benefit of ClearSpace, Arianespace will launch ClearSpace-1, a servicer spacecraft, with the European light launcher Vega C.  ClearSpace-1, developed by ClearSpace, is the first active debris removal mission, which will rendezvous, capture and remove a piece of space debris.  The launch is scheduled from Europe’s Spaceport in French Guiana, starting second half of 2026.

The successful completion of the PDR confirms that ClearSpace’s solution meets all of the mission requirements and is ready for the next stages of development.
